January can be a miserable month, with dark days when the sun barely makes an appearance. The sky has a huge influence on our lives, both physical and mental. When writing a scene, it can be useful to imagine what the sky is like at that point. What could your protagonist see if they glanced up? Snow flakes, the Northern Lights, storm clouds? How might this affect their mood or behaviour? What the sky is doing could directly influence your plot. What if there's an eclipse or a meteor shower? One thing is for sure the sky is never static, it's in a constant state of flux. If you're stuck for inspiration, look up!
